The short version

Electron desktop app that bulk-downloads a Facebook page's photo archive. You sign in through an embedded Facebook login window (2FA and checkpoints included) and the session lives in an isolated persist:facebook Electron partition on your machine only. Paste a page URL, an @handle, or a profile.php?id= link; a hidden BrowserWindow loads /photos and scrolls it, harvesting images after every scroll step and merging by fbid because Facebook recycles DOM nodes. High-quality mode opens each photo permalink and reads the viewer image (img[data-visualcompletion=media-vc-image]) which is the largest file Facebook serves. Downloads run through net.request on the same authenticated session (up to 8 parallel workers, rate-limit delay), trying an ordered candidate list per image: hi-res permalink URL, largest srcset entry, then the grid URL with CDN crop params (stp, cstp, ctp, efg, s206x206, c0.284.1187.1187) stripped. Responses under 4KB or non-image content types are rejected; misses land in _failed.json, saves in _images.json. One click packs the folder with a dependency-free streaming ZIP writer built on Node's zlib (low deflate level, automatic ZIP64 for large sets). Auto-updates from GitHub Releases on launch and every 6 hours.

Facebook's photo grid serves cropped thumbnails and the originals sit behind auth, lazy loading, and DOM node recycling, so right-click-save and generic scrapers return 206x206 junk. Built as a desktop app so a real logged-in browser session does the fetching, with no cookie-pasting or CLI setup.

Why it earns the install

  • 01

Facebook CDN URLs carry crop params (stp/cstp/ctp/efg) that silently downgrade the image, so stripping them recovers the original

  • 02

The grid recycles DOM nodes on scroll, so images must be harvested after every scroll step and merged by fbid, not read once at the end

  • 03

CDN objects are cookie-gated, so downloads run through Electron's net.request on the same authenticated session the scan used

  • 04

Login happens in a real Facebook window, so 2FA and checkpoints work and no credentials ever touch the app

  • 05

    Byte-size and content-type checks catch Facebook's error placeholders that a 200 status won't
